Meet Entrepreneur Jaspreet Sidhu

Meet our featured beauty with brains Jaspreet Kaur Sidhu, an entrepreneur based in Sydney, Australia; who recently joined our platform. She is the owner of Emu Kids Drop & Shop (https://www.facebook.com/emukidsdropandshop).

Here is her story:

“We, Sukhwinder and Jaspreet, are proud parents of two young boys named Emaanvir and Teghvir. Teghvir was born at 27 weeks with a c-section. There was no help as we could not have someone from India with international travel restrictions. Teghvir stayed in ICU for about six weeks, and with a 4 year old at home, it was tough to manage. We were supposed to go to the hospital at least once a day. We did not want to be in any commitment of a day care program at the time. We managed with the help of some fantastic friends, but it was indeed a difficult situation as parents.

To overcome this issue, we started something that doesn’t require any commitment and limitation of booked hours. As Jaspreet had previously run a family daycare, we thought of starting a drop and shop station to help working parents. It is indeed hard to manage kids at shopping centres when you are in a hurry or want to have some ‘ME’ time or want to have a coffee or even a manicure.

Emu Kids Drop and Shop is a fully supervised and interactive space for children. As parents of a 4-year-old, we understand how hard it is to skip a toy aisle. So we offer a range of different activities for children to have an entirely new and fun shopping centre experience.

We started with the mission of helping parents struggling to manage their kids but not wanting long term daycare commitments. We want to be the best in the field, and our goal is to provide a safe, fun, and interactive environment for children.” – Jaspreet.

We commend her for using her tough situation as motivation to start a venture to help other parents. Please support her. They also organise birthday parties as well as occasional care, after school care, school holidays homework help etc. Message their FB page or Instagram account for further details:

The Pareto Principle For Success

The Pareto principle (commonly used in business and economics), states that 80% of results come from 20% of actions. 80% of outcomes (outputs) come from 20% of causes (inputs). While it doesn’t always come to be an exact 80/20 ratio, this imbalance is often seen in various cases. For example, 20% of a firm’s customers might be generating 80% of its profits, 20% of a firm’s employees might be doing 80% of the work, 80% of the time we might be using 20% of the apps on our phone.

The rule was introduced by Italian economist Vilfredo Pareto. Pareto noticed that 20% of the pea pods in his garden were responsible for 80% of the peas. Pareto expanded this principle to show that 80% of the wealth in Italy was owned by 20% of the population.

The 80/20 rule can be used to prioritise tasks that we need to get done during the day. The idea is that, completing 20% of the tasks from our task list, will result in 80% of the impact we can create for the day. So in order have the most impact, we need to identify which tasks have the most impact for our team and focus on those.

We can apply this concept to any field – like personal finance, spending habits, relationships etc.

If you are an entrepreneur trying to grow your current business, an 80/20 mindset can help you to stay focused on your strategic plan and spend less time chasing endless new opportunities.

When faced with a number of problems, we should gather data and facts to identify the important few. The focus could then be put on attention and improvement efforts on those few things that would give the greatest improvement in quality.

The Pareto Principle helps us determine which areas to focus our efforts on. It helps us decide which resources are the most important for us to use to achieve the greatest efficiency. It helps reduce wasting time, money, supplies, efforts, emotions, energy etc.

Before you start working, ask yourself, “Is this task in the top 20 percent of my activities or in the bottom 80 percent?”

Do You Really Need to Copy or Compete?

DO YOU REALLY NEED TO COPY OR COMPETE?
By Vanessa Finnigan
(http://www.vanessafinnigan.com.au)

Remember that feeling when someone has copied your work? The first time I experienced this was in grade eight art class, I had drawn my own style of spaghetti art with pastel colours and then the next day a class mate came in with almost exactly the same design and colours.

It’s a weird feeling, that’s for sure and I have experienced it at least a few times over the last 13 years with creating Holistic Bliss Magazine. Now don’t get me wrong, there are legal aspects to this with regards to plagiarism and intellectual property (taking people’s words, business names and data bases and work) and that’s a personal decision if you wish to go down that track to pursue that further. But what I am talking about in this article is standing above the issue and looking at it in a new light.

Once you get past the sense of, ‘why did they do that’, you start to realise where some people can function from and it’s basically from a place of not believing in themselves and feeling that someone else has something they desire and they want to make sure they grab it so they can ‘win’. Copying someone else’s work or business idea never truly works out though. How do you copy the energy of the person who has created something?

So if we look at the person through the eyes of care, we see that they just don’t think that their unique offerings and unique energy signature has any value or worth. If they did, they wouldn’t even think about copying.

It’s the same with competition, when someone starts giving you the cold shoulder or gives you passive aggressive vibes or overtly tries to undermine your success, it’s because you have created something that they feel they are not able to create. This is a lie, as we all have the capacity to create what we desire, but it won’t look the same way as someone else’s creations.

I remember attending an Access Consciousness class a few years ago and they talked about ‘out creating’ instead of competition and this is a great way to inspire a group of people or even friends to reach higher and keep creating. So ‘out-creating’ doesn’t have the energy of undermining or devaluing other people, ideally it can create more for all parties. Also, when we commit to daily self-acknowledgement, we ‘power up’ within ourselves and for ourselves. And if other’s get it or not, it’s irrelevant. Our unique energy is valuable and cannot be copied.

What is True Happiness

Mental Wellness/ Positivity Series

“What is true happiness or free from suffering (moksh)?

Happiness is not an absence of disappointments, uncertainty or losses. It is about being able to stay calm, while still feeling grateful, in the face of challenges. Nothing and no one has the power to make us feel sad, bad, fearful or angry, without our permission. It’s we who allow outside circumstances to affect our inner peace.
The power is in our hands. If we are aware of our own deep troubling emotions, only then, we can catch them before they overtake our conscious mind. Negative emotions impair our ability to reason and evaluate the situation.

Our deep troubling emotions were programmed while we were growing up. Meditation and self awareness can help us understand ourselves better, ultimately giving us better control over those overwhelming waves of emotions that seem to engulf us every time something veers off the tracks.”

Meet Makeup Artist Manib Brar

Meet our featured beauty with brains Manib Brar, a Makeup Artist & Blogger based in Canada.

“Hi, I am Manib Brar. I was a clinical nurse and financial broker. I used to be chubby bubbly girl and like many others wanted to become skinny. I loved to do makeup photoshoots and tried so many crash diets, didn’t do any workouts, had bad eating habits and lost almost 20 kgs in 4-5 months. Last year I started having back pain and in 2 days it got so bad that I couldn’t move, bend or stand and the pain spread to my legs. I had no injury, no accidents and all of a sudden I was shocked about what had happened. Found out I was having spinal compression fracture with disc bulges at age 25! yes and that was because of poor lifestyle, crash diets, sudden weight loss etc. Thankfully I recovered with the help of medical treatments, took 1 year break but this thing will be with me for life, not only physically but mentally as well. It was challenging facing everyone and accepting myself, to be happy with my bodyweight. It was tough but there is no cure to some life threatening health issues. I just have to have a stable lifestyle with precautions, eat healthy and walk everyday which gives me peace.

Now I am taking one step at a time and building self confidence and I have just started pursuing things I like the most. I left my job and now I am a full time makeup artist and a blogger empowering others, inspiring them to not care about their body type and instead focus more on eating healthy and living a happy life. Everyone is beautiful, you just need to see it and don’t wait until its too late to lead a healthy life.

Boho Chic (Eesha Boutique)

“The gypsy soul makes no excuses for her wild heart. She leaves normal behind, searching for a place she can truly be free.”

We often organise photoshoots and fashion shows for our members who are in the fashion industry. The aim of our fashion features, photoshoots, online magazine issues etc, is to empower and uplift women through fashion and make them feel confident about themselves. Another purpose is to provide a platform for women to showcase their talents, skills and products.

We recently organised a Photoshoot for Eesha Boutique (https://www.eeshaboutique.com), owned by our member Shilpa Sodal, in collaboration with Sakhi magazine. The project is titled ‘Boho Chic’. Alpana Srivastava, Reeta Josan, Ahalya Rentala & Tiya Gorain showcased their summer collection – bohemian style breezy kaftans, which are very versatile and multi functional.

Traditional boho style was first adopted by artists at the turn of the century who were living a nomadic lifestyle, their style was inspired by the gypsies and Romany people that they lived amongst.

Free flowing and effortless, these kaftans are suitable for all occasions. Whether you are going to the beach, a coffee catchup with a friend or a lunch party, these kaftans are the answer.

Photography was done by the talented Shantana Deka Dutta, owner of Light Antana Photography (https://m.facebook.com/lightantana/) who beautifully captured the untamed souls of these women through her lens.

Meet Cosmetic & Skincare Consultant Varsha Tripathi

Meet our featured beauty with brains Varsha Tripathi, who recently joined our platform as a Cosmetic & Skincare Consultant.

“Just a quick intro about myself. I set foot in Australia as an International student pursuing my master’s degree at Western Sydney University. I had a humble beginning, during my initial days in Australia, I worked part-time as a food delivery girl, drove an Uber & also worked in Coles, 7/11 fuel station while also attending my classes at University.

I worked in the IT industry, had an explosive career growth but still felt unsettled with my entrepreneurial spirit.

My ever-loving passion for beauty trends & skincare inspired me to break out of the 9-5 routine and kickstart my entrepreneurial journey into the world of cosmetics. And that’s how Shamo came into the business.

With over hundreds of happy & prestigious clients worldwide, Shamo has evolved today as an emerging online cosmetic brand in Australia with a diverse & innovative product portfolio ranging from Skincare, Haircare, Bodycare & Eyecare routines. Please check out my website here:
