Do You Really Need to Copy or Compete?

DO YOU REALLY NEED TO COPY OR COMPETE?

Remember that feeling when someone has copied your work? The first time I experienced this was in grade eight art class, I had drawn my own style of spaghetti art with pastel colours and then the next day a class mate came in with almost exactly the same design and colours.

It’s a weird feeling, that’s for sure and I have experienced it at least a few times over the last 13 years with creating Holistic Bliss Magazine. Now don’t get me wrong, there are legal aspects to this with regards to plagiarism and intellectual property (taking people’s words, business names and data bases and work) and that’s a personal decision if you wish to go down that track to pursue that further. But what I am talking about in this article is standing above the issue and looking at it in a new light.

Once you get past the sense of, ‘why did they do that’, you start to realise where some people can function from and it’s basically from a place of not believing in themselves and feeling that someone else has something they desire and they want to make sure they grab it so they can ‘win’. Copying someone else’s work or business idea never truly works out though. How do you copy the energy of the person who has created something?

So if we look at the person through the eyes of care, we see that they just don’t think that their unique offerings and unique energy signature has any value or worth. If they did, they wouldn’t even think about copying.

It’s the same with competition, when someone starts giving you the cold shoulder or gives you passive aggressive vibes or overtly tries to undermine your success, it’s because you have created something that they feel they are not able to create. This is a lie, as we all have the capacity to create what we desire, but it won’t look the same way as someone else’s creations.

I remember attending an Access Consciousness class a few years ago and they talked about ‘out creating’ instead of competition and this is a great way to inspire a group of people or even friends to reach higher and keep creating. So ‘out-creating’ doesn’t have the energy of undermining or devaluing other people, ideally it can create more for all parties. Also, when we commit to daily self-acknowledgement, we ‘power up’ within ourselves and for ourselves. And if other’s get it or not, it’s irrelevant. Our unique energy is valuable and cannot be copied.
