Chanting & Meditation

Meditation is when we focus on one thing, which can be in the form of light, sound or words, with all our senses. I mediate on the sound of Nama. Nama is calling out the mahamantra “Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare” Why did I choose the Mahamantra? I would say why not the Mahamantra? When I was told about chanting this mantra, I had no idea of what I would feel or what would happen but with regular chanting and meditation, I know that the practice is helpful. If we don’t try, we would not know.

Like every other thing we do in life to learn, I would say try meditating with the sound of the mahamantra. In the beginning, you might feel some peace but nothing very different, but if you make this your daily routine, you will benefit in ways that can not be worded but felt. How do we meditate on the Nama? Start with just saying the whole mantra at least 3 times when you wake up and slowly build on it. Are there any rules to meditate on the Nama? There are no rules to chanting the Nama, it can be done by anyone, anywhere and at anytime. Is this to do with religion or cult? This depends on who you are, the Mahamantra is universal and for every soul, people would associate it with religion and cult but does not mean that you have to as well. Be positive, be energised, be all that you should be. Chant – “Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare”
